A bar graph showing size of territory conquered by Genghis Khan in comparison to other (modern and ancient) conquerors.

In terms of square miles conquered, Genghis Khan was the greatest conqueror of all time -- his empire was more than twice the size of the empire of Alexander the Great. The Mongols believed that he was the greatest man of all time and was sent from heaven. They believed that one day Genghis Khan would rise from the dead and lead his people to new victories.
