The Egyptians practiced polytheism. Egyptians believed that every city had its own god or goddess. They believed in many gods, some of which were gods of nature such as the god of the Nile, Osiris. Other gods included gods of stars and stones. Isis, goddess of fertility, was another important god to the Egyptians. Ancient Egyptian religion diminished as Egypt fell to the Roman Empire.

The Mesopotamians practiced polytheism. They believed that each city had its own god. Mesopotamians strongly believed in the forces of nature. Many of the gods that they worshipped were gods of nature who protected their crops.
