Atomic Number

The whole number shown on a periodic table is the atomic number of the element. The atomic number is the number of protons in one atom of the element.

Element Symbol

This is the element symbol. Every element has a symbol. If the symbol is one letter it is capitalized. If it is more than one letter the first letter is capitalized and the remaining letters are lower cased.

Element Name

This is the element name. Elements' names come from Latin and Greek words. Elements might also be named after people or places.

Atomic Mass

This is the atomic mass. The atomic mass is the number of protons and neutrons. The atomic mass is usually shown as a decimal number.
