Now, try your hand at imitating the master, Chekhov, by reading the first two paragraphs of the Chekhov story and then rewriting them using your own details, setting, dialogue, literary devices, and characters.

The following is an example of how I might rewrite the first two paragraphs of the story:

“Morning’s here!” my sister shouted into my pillow.

“It’s finally morning!” screamed my little brother George, falling into my room. “Get up!”
