Germany reluctantly agreed to the terms of the peace treaty.  Ironically, even though the League of Nations was included in the peace treaty; the United States Senate did not support the U.S. becoming a member of such a multi-national organization because they feared it would threaten U.S. sovereignty.  Wilson would continue to encourage the U.S. to join the League of Nations, even at his life’s end.
