Imagine you are a famous writer living in Italy around 1500CE. Students from all over Europe are requesting that you visit their cities and share your ideas. The problem is that you are late in years and cannot risk travelling across rugged and mountainous terrain. There is also the issue of frequent conflicts between kingdoms and banditry in the countryside. You really want to make your ideas known to all parts of Europe.
