After you discover who fought alongside the United States, the Allied Powers, you will learn about the various battles the United States fought in North Africa and Europe. The twenty-six member nations were originally called the United Nations but were more commonly referred to as the Allied Nations or Allies. The Big Three were the United States, Great Britain, and the Soviet Union. French military forces also played a major role, but its country had been taken over by Germany. These nations committed the most fighting forces, weapons, supplies, and military leadership throughout the war.
