There were many decisive battles in the American Revolution. Many of these battles were fought by American colonists who were determined to live in a country where everyone had individual rights and lived without fear of the government.

Some of the most important people who were involved in the military were not specific individuals, but two very important military groups. The minutemen were American farmers who fought in the American Revolution. They were called minutemen because they were always ready to fight at a minute's notice. The redcoats were English soldiers who were named for the bright colors of their uniforms.

The first battles of the American Revolution were the battles of Lexington and Concord. The militia, made of heroic Americans, fought bravely against the English troops in these important battles. Click on the link below to watch a video on the Battles at Lexington and Concord.
