Lesson Summary

In this lesson, you learned about political and economic issues that led to the American Revolution. Both types of issues created tension between the American colonists and the British government. The economic issues included the practice of mercantilism and several acts that unfairly levied taxes against the colonists. The political issues included a series of acts that limited the movement and representation of colonists. The lack of representation of the colonists in Parliament was both a political and economic issue because colonists were unable to vote for various issues, including taxation.

The colonists continued to protest against the actions of the British, and the British continued to enforce harsh, restrictive laws against the colonists, which led to the American Revolution.
