From 1775 to 1783, thirteen colonies in America were embroiled in a battle with Great Britain in which colonists fought for their independence from the British government.

There were several clashes between the militias of the colonies and the British army. Many issues surrounded the American Revolution. Some of the issues were political in nature; these issues were related to government, conflict-resolution, and decision making between the American colonists and the British government. There were also economic issues that surrounded the American Revolution. These issues involved, for the most part, actions by the British government that impacted the economy of the colonies.
