Eras can be helpful in understanding information about issues and events of an era. From the end of Reconstruction in the late 1870s to the beginning of the 1900s, Texas faced significant economic, social, and political changes. During this time, Texas experienced rapid population growth, as well as a growth in their economy.

The growth of the economy had such a tremendous impact on the state during this time that the era was named for it. This era is known as Cotton, Cattle, and Railroads.

As the production of cotton and cattle increased, the need to transport these goods increased. The railroad became the method by which goods were transported and sold. The railroad also provided a means for people to move from one place to another. Close Pop Up
