Remember pH tells us if a solution is an acid or base. The pH scale, below, shows us that the most acidic substances have a pH of 0 and a hydrogen ion concentration of 100. Neutral substances have a pH of 7 and a hydrogen ion concentration of 10-7. The most basic substances have pH of 14 and a hydrogen ion concentration of 10-14.

pH Scale

pH < 7 = acid
higher concentration of Hydrogen ions
pH = 7 = neutral
pH > 7 = base
lower concentration of Hydrogen ions

The lower the pH the higher the concentration of the Hydrogen ions. The higher the pH then the lower the Hydrogen.
