In this resource, you investigated different ways to determine the solutions to quadratic equations using tables of values.
In doing so, you also compared functions to their related equations.
Functions
y = x2 or f(x) = x2
Functions have zeros, or x‑values, that generate function values equal to 0.
Equations
x2 = 0
Equations have roots or solutions, or x‑values, that can be substituted into the quadratic polynomial in order to generate a value equal to 0.
In a table of values, solutions to related equations can be found by locating rows containing ordered pairs where the function value, or y-value, is equal to 0. In some cases, the solution must be estimated.
