There are two types of exponential functions. One is exponential growth and the other is exponential decay.

Both exponential growth and decay use the same equation: y = ab^x

What is the difference between the two?

• Exponential growth is a function that increases exponentially over time; the b-value is more than one.

• Exponential decay is a function that decreases exponentially over time; the b-value is less than one.
