What’s left to revise? The last thing to revise will be the last part of the paper: the conclusion. Conclusions should remind readers of what was most important, but they should say the most important information in a new way.

There are at least four ways that conclusions fail:

• They mechanically repeat what has already been said.
• They bring up completely new information.
• They don’t mention the controlling idea.
• They refer to only part of the controlling idea (in this case, not mentioning pangolins).

What should we correct when we revise each of these concluding paragraphs? Specifically, which one revision question should we address?
