Your writings are published in the regional languages of the people and become widely read. The printing presses give you a large share in the book profits, and you die a satisfied and wealthy writer.
Your ambition gets the best of you. You wave goodbye to your fellow scholars and friends and set out under a sunny sky. After visiting a couple of nearby cities you begin to make the treacherous pass across the rugged Alps. A series of unexpected rain storms turn the path into a muddy bog. Your carriage becomes stuck and all is nearly lost. Fortune strikes when a caravan of gypsies agrees to take you back to your Italian home. You return safe and sound but your ideas are never heard.
