Diagrams are used in many different ways. Diagrams are usually pictures that are labeled and show a process or how something works. For example, car repair manuals often have diagrams that are labeled pictures that show exactly where each part goes in an engine. Diagrams can also be used to show a process such as how solar energy is converted into electricity.

A common diagram you have seen is a Venn diagram. A Venn diagram is made up of overlapping circles that can be used to compare two or more things. Jonah finally narrowed down his choices to two categories of pets: a dog or a cat. He decided that while it would be pretty cool to teach a bird to speak, he really wants a pet that he can cuddle and can be a companion that would sleep at the end of his bed. He decided to make one last graphic to help him decide. He made a Venn diagram comparing dogs and cats.

Based on this Venn, it’s pretty safe to say that Jonah will make some animal a very lucky pet!
