Jacob saw Sienna and coolly asked her what sector she came from. Sienna replied that she thought she was the sole survivor from Sector H. 1

Jacob’s heart leapt when he saw her. Finally, he thought, another survivor! It had been two weeks since he’d seen another soul. Correction . . . it had been two weeks since he’d seen another living soul. 2

Jacob wanted to believe that he could trust Sienna, but after all of the destruction he had seen, his instincts told him to be wary of anyone and everyone. Sienna thought Jacob looked harmless enough: filthy torn clothes, but he was tall and lanky. Probably weighs a buck fifty, she thought. 3
